American Idol Top 6 segment aired on April 22, 2008. It features songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber. In this segment, Ryan Seacrest invited David's sisters up on stage to give him a hug. Webber is keen to hear how David would render the song "Think of Me", from the Phantom of the Opera, as it was written for a girl. Webber said David wrong-footed him, he never think of the song like that and that is so rare.
All the judges had nothing but praise for this performance.
Randy Jackson: Yo, check it out, dude, check it out. You are exactly what this show is about - when you can sing, you can sing anything. This would be a big night for you, you even put your own personality into it here and here - dude, it was the bomb, this boy is the one to beat!
Paula Abdul: I think it was absolutely perfect, David, and the reason why I think it was perfect is you took a risk on a known theatrical song and able to turn it into a pop ballad - I think that's perfect.
Simon Cowell: David, I thought it was pleasant, ah, one of your weak performances of the ... it's just not one of your performances you are going to absolutely remember - it will take you through to next week, but it was entirely quite forgettable for me, sorry.
